Riddhi and I originally recorded this a couple of months back (the same time we recorded Allah ke bande and DK Bose), but I wasn’t really happy with how the basic mix of guitar and vocals had come out, feeling like there was something missing from the track.
And then my friend and one time colleague Shankha turned up the night before I was to leave Mumbai for good and sat with this song and sprinkled some magic on to it by way of his voice and his whistling. The remaining parts were recorded once I was in Kolkata, and it’s probably my favourite of the Hindi covers that I have worked on in recent times.
This one’s a tribute to the hills; I miss them every waking moment and in my dreams too.
